A birdie on the first play-off hole saw Kyle Barker defeat Cole Stevens to win the Limpopo Championship at Euphoria Golf & Lifestyle Estate on Sunday.

It was Barker’s third win on the Sunshine Tour.

Barker and Stevens had finished tied on nine-under-par 279, one shot ahead of third-placed Agustin Errazuriz, forcing a play-off, which Barker won at the first attempt after making a birdie while Stevens made bogey.

Having opened the tournament with a two-under-par 70, followed by a 68 in the second round and a 73 on moving day, Barker carded a flawless 68 in the final round.

He went into the final round tied for eighth place on five-under-par 211, nine shots behind overnight leader Stevens, who was on 14-under-par.

Barker started his round with a birdie at the first hole, followed by another at the fourth and ninth for an outward 33. After the turn, he added one more birdie at the 12th for an inward 35.

Stevens had opened with a 67, followed by a flawless 65 and a 70 on moving day. He then endured a difficult outing in the final round, shooting a 77.

On his front nine, Stevens bogeyed the second hole before recovering with a birdie at the third. However, he then went on a poor run, making a triple bogey at the fourth, followed by bogeys at the fifth, sixth and eighth for an outward 42.

After the turn, he added a birdie at the 12th for a blemish-free inward nine of 35.

Third-placed Errazuriz finished on eight-under-par 280, while Ethan Smith, Pierre Viallaneix and Jacques Blaauw shared fourth place on six-under-par 282.

Jonathan Broomhead and Stals Swart shared seventh place on five-under-par 283, with amateur Stefan Jacobs and Jordan Burnand tied for ninth on four-under-par 284.

For his win, Barker earned 380.40 Order of Merit points, while Stevens received 264.
