VETERAN golfer Dismas Indiza held his nerve to secure a play-off victory over Edwin Mudanyi at the Sunshine Development Tour-East Africa Swing 3 Kabete Challenge held at VetLab Sports Club.

It was Indiza’s second Sunshine Development Tour title. Indiza and Mudanyi finished the regulation 54 holes tied on three-under-par 213, forcing a play-off.

Speaking after the victory, the veteran professional said he trusted his experience and that the win would provide a significant boost for the remainder of the season. “I’m very happy with the win. It wasn’t easy because the competition was very strong and Edwin played really well today. I stayed patient, trusted my experience and kept fighting until the last hole. Making that birdie on 18 gave me a chance, and once we got into the playoff, I knew I just had to stay focused and give myself an opportunity. This is a good result for me and a big boost for the rest of the season,” said Indiza (via Sunshine Development Tour). Indiza, who began the final day tied for the lead alongside Mudanyi and Michael Karanga, closed with a two-under-par 70. On the front nine, he bogeyed the second hole before recovering with back-to-back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes. However, he dropped another shot at the eighth to make the turn in 36. He then produced a flawless back nine, picking up birdies at the 17th and 18th holes to finish strongly with an inward 34. Mudanyi, meanwhile, also closed with a 70. On his front nine, he picked up birdies at the first and seventh holes but dropped a shot at the third. He added another birdie at the 10th hole but was ultimately denied in the play-off. Amateur Adel Balala finished third on two-under-par 214. The Kabete Challenge attracted 67 players from 10 countries, including professionals, amateurs and junior golfers from across East Africa and beyond.

The tournament formed the third leg of the 2026 Sunshine Development Tour-East Africa Swing season and offered players valuable Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points and Sunshine Development Tour Order of Merit points, which are crucial for progression to the main Sunshine Tour.
