SOUTH African professional golfer Ian Snyman has broken into the top 10 after carding a four-under-par 66 in the second round of the SJM Macao Open, taking place at the Macau Golf and Country Club.
He is also the highest-placed South African halfway through the championship. Jaco Ahlers, the only other South African to make the cut, is tied for 12th on six-under-par 134. Snyman’s second round featured six birdies and two bogeys. He opened with a birdie on the first hole, followed by a bogey on the second and another birdie on the third. He picked up another birdie on the seventh and a bogey on the eighth for an outward nine of 33. On the back nine, Snyman added three more birdies, on the 13th, 15th and 18th holes, to complete another 33 and finish with a solid round of 66. Meanwhile, Ahlers produced a bogey-free round, signing for a three-under-par 67. His scorecard included birdies on the sixth, 14th and 18th holes. Compatriot Jbe Kruger finished on one-over-par 141 after rounds of 72 and 69, missing the cut by two strokes.
Clubhouse leader after the second round, Suwannarut, winner of the 2022 Indonesian Masters and the Volvo China Open, has posted rounds of 65 and 63, giving him a three-stroke lead over second-placed Wocheng Ye.
