SOUTH African professional Ian Synman made significant gains after moving into a tie for second place following the second round of the Moutai Singapore Open taking place at The Singapore Island Country Club.

Synman carded an impressive seven-under-par 65, moving to an overall 10-under-par 134, having opened with a 69. He is part of a 10-way tie for second place, sitting just two shots behind leader Soomin Lee.

He began the second round tied for 41st position. He then shot an eagle, seven birdies and a double bogey. On his front nine, Synman picked up birdies on the par-four first and third holes, the par-three fifth, the par-five seventh, and the par-four ninth. He also recorded an eagle on the par-four sixth for a flawless outward seven-under-par 29. He added two more birdies on the back nine, back-to-back on holes 12 and 13 before carding a double bogey on the par-four 15th for an inward level-par 36.

Zimbabwe’s Kieran Vincent, who had opened with a 65, carded a one-under-par 71 in the second round and now sits tied for 14th on eight-under-par 136. South Africa’s Jaco Ahlers, who also made the cut, is tied for 24th on seven-under-par 137 after rounds of 68 and 69.
