Sullivan now holds a one-shot lead as the inaugural tournament heads into the weekend.

The Englishman is on 15-under-par 129, having opened the tournament with a 69 on Thursday. Estiaan Conradie occupies second place on 14-under-par 130.

Speaking after his scintillating round, Sullivan admitted that, for a moment, he was chasing a historic 59. He added that such a performance was a confidence booster.

“Definitely (chasing a 59). I made eagle on nine to get to six-under and then went on a nice little run, 10, 11, 12 and i was kind of thinking about it at the back of my head a little bit. We got close, but not quite unfortunately. The chip in on nine for an eagle was very nice and it just boosted momentum, it was a great timing for it.

“This type of performance gives me a lot of confidence for sure. I have a lot of potential and i haven’t quite played up to it so far this season. It has been a bit of a slow start for me but i’m enjoying every week as it comes and we are going forward from there,” he said (via Sunshine Tour).

Sullivan started his round with birdies at the first, third, sixth and eighth holes before eagling the ninth for an outward 30.

After the turn, he continued his brilliant run with birdies at the 10th and 11th and an eagle at the 12th. He added further birdies at the 15th and 16th to complete an inward 30.

Conradie carded a near-flawless 64 in the second round after opening with a 66. Kyle De Beer and Travis Procter share third place on 13-under-par 131.

Tyran Snyders, Rupert Kaminski, Altin van der Merwe and Cole Stevens are tied for fifth on 12-under-par 132.

Nikhil Rama, Oliver Goldhill, Daniel Cronje, Jason Roets, Graham van der Merwe, Tristen Strydom, Ricky Hendler, Ryan van der Klis and Pierre Pellegrin share ninth place on 11-under-par 133.
