Rama and Procter carded opening rounds of nine-under-par 63 to share a one-shot lead at the top of the leaderboard in the first-ever Rwanda Open.

In-form Rama enjoyed a brilliant front nine, picking up six birdies. He produced a run of five consecutive birdies from the second to sixth holes before adding another at the ninth to make the turn in 30.

After the turn, Rama added three more birdies at the 12th, 15th and 17th holes to card a 33 on the back nine and take a share of the lead.

Procter also enjoyed a strong front nine, picking up a birdie at the fourth before embarking on a run of four consecutive birdies from the sixth to ninth holes to make the turn in 31.

After the turn, Procter birdied the 10th and 12th before dropping a shot at the 13th. He responded with further birdies at the 15th, 16th and 18th holes to card an inward 32.

Graham van der Merwe sits alone in third on eight-under-par 64 after making nine birdies and dropping just one shot.

Altin van der Merwe, Jason Roets, Ryan van der Klis and Jaden Deltel share fourth place on seven-under-par 65.
