A TOTAL of 13 nations are gearing up to battle for top honours at the 2025 All Africa Junior Golf Championship, set to take place at The Residence Golf Course in Gammarth, Tunis, Tunisia from April 22-27 April.

The eagerly awaited continental showdown serves as a direct qualifier for the prestigious Toyota Junior Golf World Cup. The top two teams from both the boys' and girls' competitions will earn their place at the global event, scheduled for June in Japan.

Countries set to compete for a coveted spot include South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, Namibia, Uganda, Mauritius, Algeria, Egypt, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, and hosts Tunisia. Tournament hosts, Tunisia assured of “their full commitment to ensuring the success of this important sporting event.” Participating nations have been working diligently to prepare their teams ahead of the championship. Teams are expected to depart for Tunisia on Monday, April 21, with the official arrival day set for Tuesday, April 22. Several countries have shared updates on their teams’ preparations: “With the same determination and the preparation they have received, we believe our team will make Uganda proud,” said Uganda Golf Union President, Jackson Were. GolfRSA CEO, Grant Hepburn, added: “These international tournaments provide young golfers with invaluable experience and an opportunity to compete at the highest level. They also encourage collaboration among African nations to promote the growth of the sport across the continent.” President of the Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Association, Olivia Nyamwanza, remarked: “The team has been training tirelessly over the past three months under the expert guidance of head coach Simon Murungweni, with support from ZLGU coach Jessie Nyakatawa. Every effort and resource has gone into preparing for this championship. Now it’s time to bring the trophy home.”

The tournament’s practice round and official opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday April 23 with Championship rounds taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The prize giving ceremony will be hosted on Saturday before teams depart to their respective countries on Sunday.
