AN opening round of six-under-par 64 saw Stals Swart take the early lead at the SunBet Challenge Hosted by Wild Coast Sun, which teed off at Wild Coast Sun Country Club on Wednesday.

Swart dropped just a single shot in the opening round and holds a two-stroke advantage over a group of eight players sharing second place.

The South African professional had a flawless outward nine, picking up four birdies at the first, third, fourth and seventh holes for an outward nine of 31. After the turn, he added three more birdies at the 10th, 15th and 16th before making his only blemish at the 18th for an inward nine of 33.

The eight golfers sharing second place on four-under-par 66 are Rupert Kaminski, Adam Breen, Travis Ladner, Trevor Fisher Jnr, Haydn Porteous, Tyran Snyders, Keagan Thomas and Liam Grehan.

Nine players are tied for 10th place on three-under-par 67. The group consists of Charl Barnard, Albert Venter, Jaco Ahlers, Ricky Hendler, Nikhil Rama, Benjamin Kedochim, Keenan Davidse, James Mack and Morris Schiefner.
