Egyptian Amateur Open golf championship has been relaunched after a 15-year absence, joining the Arab Golf Series in a move aimed at boosting the sport’s profile in Egypt and the wider region, the head of the Egyptian Golf Federation announced. Omar Hisham Talaat said the 2025 Egyptian Amateur Open tournament represents a new start for golf in Egypt and the Arab world. “This tournament was and still is part of the story of Egyptian golf, a story of passion, tradition, and excellence,” Talaat said during a launch ceremony on Wednesday evening. He noted that the championship, which first began in 1920, has for more than a century been a “symbol of integrity, sportsmanship, and national pride.”
Talaat said the current edition’s inclusion in the Arab Golf Series is a key part of a shared vision to elevate the status of Arab golf and expand the base of professional players. “Golf in Egypt is entering a new era today, thanks to the expansion of junior programmes, the return of veteran champions, and the emergence of promising talents who deserve support and care,” Talaat added, stressing that the federation is building its modern system on the foundations of good governance and professional management.
