SOUTH African golf sensations, Daniel Bennett and Christian Maas are two of the 15 golfers named to the watch list of the United States of America’s (USA) top collegiate golf award, the Fred Haskins Award, presented by Stifel Postseason Watch List.

Bennett and Maas are part of the University of Texas’ golf team, which is one of the three institutions to have a pair of players on the postseason watch list.

Finalists for the 2024-25 Haskins Award will be released on May 16 and voting will open for the 10 players that are included on the list. Voting will end on May 26 at the conclusion of the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship. Bennett, currently positioned number 64 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and number four in the latest NCAA individual rankings by Scoreboard, has registered a team-best 69.30 scoring average this season. He boasts a pair of individual runner-up finishes and four top-three showings while placing in the top 16 in eight of his first nine stroke-play events this year. Bennett was named to the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup Team International and was tabbed the SEC Men's Freshman of the Week on April 16. Meanwhile, Maas sitting in ninth place on the WAGR AND eighth in the latest NCAA individual rankings by Scoreboard, has registered a 69.58 scoring average and boasts one individual victory, five top-five and eight top 10 finishes in his first 11 stroke-play appearances this year. One of 10 semifinalists for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award and the SEC Men's Co-Golfer of the Week (March 19), Maas earned his second career collegiate win at the Pauma Valley Invitational (March 17-18) with a 9-under 204 (68-70-66).

The Fred Haskins Award is the oldest individual college golf award and the only award to be voted on by players, coaches, golf SID's and select golf media.
