CASEY Jarvis made it back-to-back victories after cruising to a three-shot win over Frederic Lacroix, Francesco Laporta and Hennie du Plessis at the 115th Investec South African Open, held at Stellenbosch Golf Club.

Jarvis, who won last week’s Magical Kenya Open presented by Absa, carded 14-under-par 266 to become the eighth different home winner in the last eight editions of South Africa’s national Open.

With his memorable triumph, Jarvis has earned exemptions into the 154th Open Championship and the Masters Tournament. Speaking after his victory, Jarvis said he was at a loss for words following an incredible week. “I feel on top of the world in this moment. I feel absolutely incredible. To win in front of my home crowd in my home Open is just absolutely fantastic, I’ve got no words. There are so many good memories of this event. Brandon Stone, who’s a good friend of mine, I watched him when I was about 10 years old and saw him win the SA Open. “I just had a slight feeling from the start of the week that something crazy was going to happen and it’s incredible,” said Jarvis (via the DP World Tour). Jarvis went into Sunday’s final round holding a one-shot lead over Du Plessis and Laporta. He was on 11-under-par 199 and closed with a near-flawless three-under-par 67. The South African professional enjoyed a bogey-free front nine, picking up three birdies at the first, fourth and fifth for an outward 32. After the turn, he dropped a shot at the 10th but recovered with a birdie at the 12th for an inward 35, enough to secure a memorable victory on home soil. The second-placed trio of Lacroix, Laporta and Du Plessis all finished on 11-under-par 269. They carded closing rounds of 65, 69 and 69 respectively.

This year’s Investec South African Open was staged at Stellenbosch Golf Club for only the second time since the tournament’s inception.
