OLIVER Scriven produced a phenomenal performance to secure a commanding 11-shot victory over Ghery Rabie and Janus Roberts at the Paarl Open held at the Winelands Course on Sunday.

Scriven carded an impressive nine-under-par 135, the only player to record a sub-par score. Runners-up Rabie and Roberts both finished on two-over-par 146.

He opened the tournament with a five-under-par 67, which featured eight birdies and three bogeys. He began his round with a bogey on the second hole before responding with a birdie on the fourth. Further bogeys on the seventh and eighth were followed by a birdie on the ninth to close out the front nine. On the back nine, Scriven was flawless, carding six birdies without dropping a shot. The Pearl Valley Golf Estate member made back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th, followed by another on the 13th. He then finished in remarkable fashion with three consecutive birdies on the 16th, 17th and 18th, coming home in just 30 strokes. In the second and final round, Scriven maintained his composure, dropping only two shots. On the front nine, he picked up three birdies and one bogey, before repeating the pattern on the back nine, three more birdies and a bogey to claim top honours.

Rabie posted rounds of 73 and 73, while Roberts recorded 71 and 75.
