FOLLOWING his victory on the Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing, winning the event held at Nyali Golf and Country Club last week, Kenyan professional Njoroge Kibugu has said that consistency has been key.

Kibugu won the event at Nyali Golf and Country Club by a single shot, edging out Daniel Nduva and Celestine Nsanzuwera.

After that victory, he had now won two of his last three tournaments. Speaking to Golf Africa, the in-form golfer said he always tries to remain conscious of his actions on the course while maintaining the same thought process. “I have just tried to be consistent with my approach to the game and being very conscious of what I am doing on the golf course. All in all, my thought process going into every tournament is the same,” he said. He opened the tournament with a four-over-par 75 but managed to recover superbly. He followed up his first round with an impressive three-under-par 68 on moving day, taking him to one-over-par 143 overall, just one shot off the lead, which was shared by Nsanzuwera and David Wakhu. Kibugu’s second-round 68, featuring five birdies and two bogeys, was the joint-lowest round of the day. In the final round, Kibugu carded five birdies and six bogeys, shooting 72, which proved just enough to clinch the title.
