Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing

AMATEUR golfer John Lejirma has opened up a four-stroke lead at the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the sixth leg of the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing taking place at Royal Nairobi, in Kenya.
Lejirma dropped just a single shot in a round that also featured five birdies and an eagle. He started the round with back to back birdies on the par-five second hole and par-four third. He picked up another birdie on the par-five seventh for an outward 33. On the back nine, picked up a birdie on the par-four 11th followed by an eagle on the par-five 15th hole and another birdie on the par-four 16th. He dropped his solitary shot of the round on the par-four 18th hole for an inward 33. “I am grateful for the round today. It was a solid round and I had hoped to have a bogey-free round but unfortunately on hole 18 I got away with a bogey. I started very well and I’ve gotten my putting stroke fire back, which really came in handy today. It’s always pressure heading to the final round when everyone is expecting you to deliver, but this is golf and anything can happen. Tomorrow I’ll stick to my game plan and hopefully lift the trophy,” said Lejirma. Kibugu, who shared the first round lead, followed up his opening 70 with another 70 on moving day, carding four birdies and two bogeys. In third place there is Rizwan Charania on three-under-par 141. He, too, was among the day-one leaders, following up his opening 70 with a 71.
