SOUTH African amateur golfer Lourenda Steyn shot a level-par 72 to secure a commanding wire-to-wire 10-stroke victory over compatriot Lisa Coetzer at the German International Youth Trophy, held at Semlin Golf Resort in Semlin, Germany.

Steyn carded an impressive three-under-par 213 to win the girls’ championship. She was the only player to finish with an under-par score.

She also claimed victory in her age category, the Under-16s’ championship, edging out Coetzer, who finished on seven-over-par 223. Steyn began the tournament with a one-under-par 71, which included four birdies and three bogeys. She birdied the par-five second hole and then made back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th, before adding another on the 15th. Her bogeys came at the sixth, seventh, and 13th holes. At the end of the first round, she held a two-stroke lead over Coetzer. She followed up with a two-under-par 70 on the second day, making five birdies, one double bogey, and one bogey. Her birdies came on the fourth, seventh, 14th, 15th, and 18th holes. She double-bogeyed the 13th and earlier bogeyed the 11th.

Steyn then closed with a level-par 72 to seal a dominant victory. Her final round included four birdies and four bogeys. Coetzer, who finished second, posted rounds of 73, 75, and 75, while third-placed Marie Kauder shot 76, 74, and 74.
