MUNESU Chimhini was crowned the 2026 Dugmore Trophy champion following the conclusion of the tournament held at its traditional home, Bulawayo Golf Club, over the weekend.
Chimhini finished the tournament on one-under-par 215, while second-placed Chidambazina carded five-over-par 221. Chimhini opened the championship with a three-over-par 75 in the first round before following it up with a brilliant three-under-par 69, the tournament’s best round. “In the morning, I didn’t play too badly. I was playing well but at the end I did let my emotions get to me and made a couple of mistakes. I didn’t finish off terribly but it wasn’t how I wanted to finish. But then, in the afternoon (second round), I played much better and stayed calm,” said Chimhini after the first day where 36 holes were played. Going into the final round on Sunday on level-par 144, Chimhini closed with a bogey-free 71. He made a birdie at the third hole while making pars on the other holes. Second-placed Chidambazina carded rounds of 75, 73 and 73. Blessing Gondo finished third on 14-over-par 230 with rounds of 78, 78 and 74.
The next event on the Zimbabwe Golf Association’s calendar is the Manicaland Amateur, scheduled for Hillside Golf Club on March 21–22.
