IN-FORM golfer Njoroge Kibugu opened up a commanding five-shot lead at the top of the leaderboard after moving day at the PGK Equator Tour at Royal Nairobi Golf Club in Kenya.

Kibugu carded a five-under-par 67 to move to an overall 13-under-par 203, with Mutahi Kibugu and David Wakhu tied for second on eight-under-par 208, heading into the final round on Sunday.

After opening with a 65 and following it up with a 71, Kibugu produced another strong performance in the third round, which included six birdies and a single bogey. He enjoyed a flawless front nine, picking up birdies at the second and third holes for an outward 34. He continued his charge after the turn with further birdies at the 10th, 13th, 14th and 16th, before dropping a shot at the 18th for an inward 33 to cap another dominant display. In second place, Mutahi Kibugu carded a 71 on moving day after earlier rounds of 69 and 68, while Wakhu, who had opened with back-to-back 68s, signed for a level-par 72 in the third round.
