HOME hero Celestin Nsanzuwera delivered a stellar performance to claim a commanding five shots victory over Adam Breen at the SunDev East Africa Swing SportsBiz Africa Championship held at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas, in Kigali, Rwanda on Friday.

Nsanzuwera carded a brilliant 15-under-par 201, highlighted by a course record nine-under-par 63 on moving day to cap off a dominant performance in front of his home crowd.

The Rwandan professional, who has been enjoying a good run in form opened the tournament with a four-under-par 68 which featured one eagle, four birdies and two bogeys. He shared the lead with Zimbabwe’s Visitor Mapwanya, holding a narrow one shot advantage over Haydn Porteous, CJ Wangai, Erick Ooko Obura and Travis Procter. It was on round two that Nsanzuwera delivered a sensational performance, dropping just a single shot to open a seven stroke lead at the top of the leaderboard over Procter. His stunning 63, which broke the previous course record of 64 featured one eagle, eight birdies and one bogey. He eagled the par-four third hole having made consecutive birdies on number one and two. He went on to shoot three consecutive birdies on number six, seven and eight. On the back nine, Nsanzuwera made back to back birdies on number 10 and 11, dropped a shot on the 14th before birdieing the 16th. He then closed off with a two-under-par 70 which featured five birdies and three bogeys. Second placed Breen carded 10-under-par 206 with round scores of 71, 69 and 66. In third place there was Porteous on eight-under-par 208 with rounds of 69, 69 and 70.
