SOUTH African professional Oliver Goldhill produced a sensational performance to take the lead after the first round of the Betway Big Easy Tour Final at Waterkloof Golf Club.

Goldhill carded a brilliant, bogey-free 11-under-par 61 to open up a four-shot lead over Tristan Leonard.

His outstanding round featured 11 birdies, including a run of six birdies in seven holes on the back nine. Goldhill was pleased with his performance and is looking forward to the remainder of the tournament. “I kept it somewhat steady off the tee, made the putts i needed to make. My approach game was really really solid today. I rolled the ball well on the right lines. It’s an important week, it’s obviously a big one, it’s the final of the year and my goal has been simple since the start, which is to try and get a win. Whatever comes, comes my way and all i can do is just play good golf and let the golf take care of everything else,” said Goldhill (via Big Easy Tour). On the front nine, Goldhill picked up birdies at the second, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth holes for an outward 31. After the turn, he made three consecutive birdies at the 10th, 11th and 12th, parred the 13th, and added three more birdies in a row at the 14th, 15th and 16th for an inward 30. Second placed Leonard carded an opening 65, featuring six birdies, an eagle and a bogey. Jake Bolton and Daniel Cronje share third place on six-under-par 66. The Betway Big Easy Tour Final field consists of the leading 30 players on the 2025/26 Order of Merit, in line with the exemption criteria for the event. The tournament offers a total of 2 500 points, with the winner earning 350.

The top 12 players on the Betway Big Easy Tour Order of Merit will earn Sunshine Tour cards.
