A BRILLIANT final round of seven-under-par 65, followed by a composed performance in the play-off, saw Wandre Snyman defeat Keagan Thomas to win the Blu Label Unlimited Series 4 at Waterkloof Golf Club on Wednesday.

Snyman sealed the victory on the third play-off hole after he and Thomas finished tied on 11-under-par 205, one shot ahead of the field. It was the South African professional’s maiden victory since turning professional.

Snyman came from seven shots behind at the start of the final round to force his way into a share of the lead after 54 holes. He began the day tied for seventh place on four-under-par 140, seven strokes behind overnight leader Werner Deyzel.

On the front nine, Snyman bogeyed the second hole before recovering with birdies at the third, sixth, seventh and eighth to go out in 33.

After the turn, he made three consecutive birdies at the 10th, 11th and 12th holes before dropping a shot at the 13th. He responded with an eagle at the 14th, bogeyed the 15th and added another birdie at the 16th to come home in 32.

Thomas signed for a near-flawless closing round six-under-par 66, with his only dropped shot coming at the ninth. He made birdies at the third, seventh and eighth for an outward 34 before adding further birdies at the 10th and 12th, as well as an eagle at the 14th, to card an inward 32.

Luke Brown finished third on 10-under-par 206, while Grant Ferreira and Deyzel shared fourth place on nine-under-par 207.

Jason Roets finished sixth on eight-under-par 208, with Slade Pickering seventh on six-under-par 210.

Ricky Hendler, LB Boshoff and Haydn Driver shared eighth place on five-under-par 211.
