VINCENT Nyamador Torga won the 27th edition of the Moanda Open which was held at Manga Golf Club in Moanda, Gabon on Monday.
Torga shot an impressive 13-under-par-275 to win the coveted silverware while second place Fon carded 11-under-par-277. In third place there was Robson Chinhoi with a score of nine-under-par-279 to complete the podium. The champion, Torga who has previously won this tournament, started on a high with a 69 on the first round which left him a three-way tie for the top spot with Chinhoi and Francis Epe. Following a good start to the tournament, Torga went on to shoot a two-under-par-70 which saw him drop to third on the leaderboard on five-under-par-139, one shot behind Chinhoi who carded a 69 on his second round. Torga went on to shoot another two-under-par-70 in the third round and after 54 holes, he was now tied with Chinhoi on a 209 gross, one stroke ahead of Fon who was on a gross of 210. In the final round, Torga produced a stellar performance, carding a solid six-under-par-66 to go all the way and claim the top honours. Chinhoi, who went into the final round tied with Torga shot a final round 70 while Fon carded a five-under-par-67 to jump to second place on the leaderboard.
Greg Snow (-3), Visitor Mapwanya (-2), Epe (-1), Oche Andrew Odoh (level-par), Fernand Waga (+1), Phillipe Ottou (+1) and Issa Nlareb Amang (+5) complete the top 10.
