DAVID Wakhu and Celestin Nsanzuwera surged into a share of the lead on moving day in the Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing event at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, Kenya on Tuesday.
The second round began with Wakhu one stroke behind the overnight leader, Jastas Madoya Asena who opened with a level-par 71 while Nsanzuwera was three shots off the pace on 74. Wakhu’s second round 70 included three birdies and two bogeys. He birdied the par-five fifth and 17th holes and the par-three 18th. He made bogeys on the par-three 10th hole and par-four 16th, shooting identical 35s in his front and back nines. Nsanzuwera’s superb round included six birdies and three bogeys. In his outward nine, he birdied the par-three third hole and the fifth hole while bogeying par-four second hole. He then made back to back birdies on number 10 and 11, followed it up with a bogey and the 12th before recovering with another birdie on the 13th. Nsanzuwera also birdied number 17, having previously shot a bogey on number 15. Just one stroke behind the leaders is Njoroge Kibugu, who also signed for a three-under-par 68, moving him to one-over-par 143 in solo third place.
