Darlington Chikanyambidze

DARLINGTON Chikanyambidze’s professional journey has got off to a solid start after securing a top-10 finish at the 2026 National Aids Council (NAC) Pro-Am, which was held at Royal Harare Golf Club.

Chikanyambidze finished tied for eighth place on level-par 216 in what was his second tournament since turning professional.

The Royal Harare Golf Club member said commitment is key when one becomes a professional and he is pleased with the results so far. “It feels great. It seems like since I turned professional, the results are getting better. But it’s not easy. I noticed one thing, when you are a professional, it’s different from being an amateur and you need to take the job seriously and practise as hard as you can,” said Chikanyambidze. He also shared some words of advice for amateurs. “They (other pros) are happy (for met). I just want to say to amateurs, if you make a decision (of turning pro), you need to commit to it, you don’t need to just turn professional now and then you stop working hard. Working hard is the way, without hard work, you can’t go through,” said Chikanyambidze. Chikanyambidze, who bowed out of amateur golf in style with a win at the Julius Robinson Trophy at the beginning of the month, played his first professional event at Kwekwe Golf Club at the ZPGA Championship. He finished in second place, four shots behind winner Visitor Mapwanya. Chikanyambidze carded six-under-par 138. At the NAC Pro-Am, Chikanyambidze recorded round scores of 69, 72 and 75.

Chikanyambidze now has his eyes set on continuing his impressive form at the President’s Cup, scheduled for Bulawayo Country Club from April 14–17, and at the Zimbabwe Open.
