Darlington Chikanyambidze

DARLINGTON Chikanyambidze’s love-story with the Midlands this season continued as he won the 2025 Simon Muzenda Invitational Golf Tournament by a remarkable 10-strokes at Kwekwe Golf Club over the weekend.

Chikanyambidze carded an impressive five-under-par 211 to win his second title of the season having previously won the Bata Power Open. Capping off an outstanding performance, he also set a new course record at Kwekwe Golf Club with an eight-under-par 64 in the final round.

He was the only player to finish with an under-par total as second placed Anderson Phiri carded five-over-par 221. A member of Royal Harare Golf Club, Chikanyambidze opened the tournament with a three-under-par 75. He followed it up with a level-par 72 to go into the final round on three-over-par 147, tied with Phiri and Cosmas Siyakobo. It was on Sunday’s final round that Chikanyambidze showcased his class, producing a record breaking 64 to distance himself from the rest of the field and claim the top honours. Second placed Phiri carded round scores of 72, 75 and 74 while in third place Siyakobo carded 70, 77 and 75 to finish on six-over-par 222.

The next event on the Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) calendar is the Jacaranda Challenge scheduled for Royal Harare Golf Club on September 27 and 28.
