AT LEAST 200 local and international junior golfers took to the greens for the highly regarded 2025 Delta Botswana Junior Championship which was held at Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club over the weekend. It was an action packed two-day of golf with the next generation of Botswana’s golfing talent showcasing their skills and capabilities while igniting the fairways and greens of one of the country’s prestigious courses with enthusiasm.

Sanctioned by the Botswana Golf Union (BGU) and organised by the Botswana Junior Golf League, the tournament featured junior golfers between the ages 5-18. As a qualifying tournament for the esteemed Champion of Champions invitational, it was an opportunity for juniors to showcase their skills and vie for a coveted spot among the best of the best.

In a statement, BGU expressed their gratitude to all the golfers who made the tournament a resounding success while also thanking parents and sponsors who also played a part in making sure that the juniors showcase their skills. “After great two days tournament of Delta Botswana Junior Championship at Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club, we would like congratulate all the young golfers for showing resilience and passion for the sport, you definitely have a bright future ahead of you. Special thank you to the parents for your unwavering support for your children. To the sponsors, thank you for making the tournament a success. “The journey of Botswana Junior Golf League continues as we look forward to more cheers on the greens and the podium. Special thank you to our custodian Chief Executive Mr Tuelo Serufho for gracing the prize giving ceremony,” read the statement. Tournament hosts, Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club echoed similar sentiments, congratulating all the participants for their unwavering dedication to golf. “What an incredible two days at the Delta Botswana Junior Championship, hosted at Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club. A huge congratulations to all the young golfers who displayed outstanding resilience, talent, and passion for the game — the future of golf in Botswana is shining brightly because of you. “We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents for your unwavering support and encouragement, and to our valued sponsors for making this tournament a resounding success,” they said.

The junior golfers competed over nine and 18 holes.
