ELTON Zulu secured his first triumph in the Zimbabwe Golf Association’s provincial circuit with a dominant eight-shot win at the 2025 Midlands Amateur Championship, held at Kwekwe Golf Club over the weekend.

Zulu, the only competitor to finish under par, posted a total score of one-under-par 215. He finished well ahead of Cosmas Siyakobo and Anderson Phiri, who both tied for second place on seven-over-par 223.

Zulu took control of the tournament early on, opening with a solid one-under-par 71 on Saturday morning. He then produced a superb three-under-par 69 in the second round – the lowest score recorded in the competition. Despite a closing round of three-over-par 75, Zulu comfortably held his lead to secure top honours after 54 holes. Runner-up Siyakobo returned rounds of 77, 73 and 73, while Phiri registered scores of 75, 74 and 74 across the three rounds.

Attention now shifts to the next event on the calendar, the Hillside Masters which is penciled in for Hillside Golf Club this weekend.
