Elton Zulu Roland Park Open victory poster

ONCE just a dreamer with a degree in Actuarial Science, Elton Zulu is now turning his dream into a winning reality on the fairways. Zulu delivered a composed and confident performance to secure a four-stroke victory over Darlington Chikanyambidze and Godfrey Zulu at the 2025 Roland Park Open at Roland Park Golf Club in Zvishavane over the weekend.

He carded four-under-par 212 to secure the victory in the 54-hole event. He was the only golfer to finish with an under-par score as second placed Chikanyambidze and Godfrey Zulu shot even-par 216.

The victory in Zvishavane was Zulu’s second this season having previously won the Midlands Amateur at Kwekwe Golf Club a month ago. Speaking after his victory, Zulu reflected on the journey that brought him here, and the decision to pursue his passion after graduation. “When I graduated (Actuarial Science), I told my parents, can you allow me to dream. I hope this win and others to come and what I have done so far is enough for them to know that I am living that dream that I went out to search for," he said. Zulu started the tournament with a two-over-par 74 in the first round which left him three shots off the lead where Godfrey Zulu had opened with a 71. He followed it up with an impressive five-under-par 67, the lowest round of the tournament. His impressive display on the second round took him to an overall three-under. He went into the final round two shots behind Godfrey Zulu. He then shot 71, which was enough to see him claim the title as Godfrey Zulu faltered with a 77 in the final round.

Godfrey Zulu finished with round scores of 71, 68 and 77 while Chikanyambidze carded 74, 68 and 74.
