LIAM Thompson took the lead from overnight leader Oliver Scriven, holding a one-stroke advantage after round two of the NTT Data Junior Under-19 Open taking place at Kingswood Golf Estate in George, Western Cape, South Africa.

Thompson produced the lowest round of the tournament so far on moving day, carding a superb five-under-par 67, which included two eagles.

He now sits on an overall score of seven-under-par 137, while Scriven, who dropped to second place, is one shot behind on six-under-par 138 heading into Wednesday’s final round. Thompson had started the day two shots behind Scriven. Thompson got off to a spectacular start in the second round, making an eagle on the second hole, followed by back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh. He added another birdie on the 12th, but dropped consecutive shots on the 13th and 14th holes. He then finished the round in dramatic fashion, with a birdie on the 16th, a bogey on the 17th, and a second eagle on the 18th for a strong finish.

Second placed Scriven carded 70 on round two. Andries van der Vyver, Johndre Ludick and Nicolas van der Vyver are tied for third place on four-under-par 140.
