SOUTH African professional Herman Loubser holds a one-shot lead over Zimbabwe’s Robson Chinhoi after the opening round of the Sunshine Tour sanctioned Vodacom Origins of Golf at Parys Golf and Country Estate in South Africa on Friday.
His opening round featured one eagle, five birdies and two bogeys. He eagled the par-five 18th hole having previously shot birdies on the par-five fourth, par-four sixth, par-three eighth, and par-four 13th and 15th holes. Both his dropped shots came on the inward nine, bogeying the par-four 10th and the par-three 16th holes for an inward 34 having made an outward 33. Close behind, Chinhoi signed for a four-under-par 68 which included seven birdies and three bogeys. The Zimbabwean professional shot birdies on holes number four, six, seven (par-four), nine (par-five), 11 (par-five), 13 and 18. He dropped shots on the par-four first hole, number 10 and the par-three 12th hole.
Ten players are tied for third place on three-under-par 69. The Vodacom Origins of Golf is the second tournament since the resumption from an eight-week break. Last week’s return event, the FNB Eswatini Challenge was won by Michael Hollick.
