A flawless final-round eight-under-par 64 saw Kyle De Beer secure a six-shot victory at the inaugural Rwanda Open at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas on Sunday.

It was De Beer’s maiden Sunshine Tour title, with the South African professional making history by becoming the first winner of the Rwanda Open.

De Beer finished the tournament on 27-under-par 261. He made a flying start to his final round, picking up birdies at the first, second, fourth and ninth holes to make the turn in 32.

After the turn, he added further birdies at the 11th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes to card another 32 on the back nine and comfortably secure the title.

Estiaan Conradie finished second on 21-under-par 267 after closing with a 69.

Daniel Cronje, Allen John, Benjamin Kedochim, Travis Procter, Ryan van der Klis and Cole Stevens shared third place on 20-under-par 268.

Robson Chinhoi, Austin Bautista, Graham van der Merwe and Joe Sullivan finished tied for ninth on 19-under-par 269.

The two Rwandan professionals who made the cut at their home open, Celestin Nsanzuwera and Jean Baptiste Hakizimana, finished tied for 25th on 14-under-par 274.

Rwandan amateur Dusabe Felix finished tied for 59th on four-under-par 284.

Felix was the leading amateur, finishing one shot ahead of Kenya’s Adel Balala, who ended on three-under-par 285. They were the only two amateurs to make the cut at the inaugural tournament.
