THIS past week was one to remember for teenage prodigy Matteo Rakotofiringa who followed up his Africa Region IV Junior Team Championship (Individual Boys) win with another victory at the Mauritius Junior Open (Boys 1st Division) at Tamarina Golf Club.
Speaking to Golf Africa, Rakotofiringa described his victory at the Mauritius Junior Open as a confidence booster and is already looking forward to tournaments that will follow. The teenager added that the time he spent in Mauritius was priceless and has his eyes set on improving his game and competing at a higher level. “This win means a lot to me. The whole experience here in Mauritius has been incredible. The course, the atmosphere, and the support from everyone made it really special. I am proud of how I stayed focused and handled the challenge out there. Lifting the trophy is a great reward for all the hard work. “This victory gives me a lot of confidence moving forward and I am excited for what’s next. My goal is to keep improving, compete at a higher level and hopefully, use this as a stepping stone to achieve even bigger things in the future,” said Rakotofiringa.
At the Africa Region IV Junior Team Championship, Rakotofiringa carded 12-over-par 228 to register a one-stroke victory over Tanishq Nobeen from Mauritius.
