Munesu Chimhini

ANOTHER new champion was crowned at the Zimbabwe Golf Association’s provincial championships after Munesu Chimhini claimed victory at the 2025 Hillside Masters, held at Hillside Golf Club in Mutare over the weekend.

The 14-year-old secured his first title of the season after carding a five-under-par 214 over 54 holes, finishing two strokes ahead of Darlington Chikanyambidze and Braydom Amm, who were tied for second on three-under-par 216.

Young Chimhini did not have the best of starts to the tournament, shooting a three-over-par 76 in the opening round, which left him five strokes behind Munyaradzi Sithole, who had opened with a round of 71. In the second round, Chimhini returned a two-under-par 71, placing him on a one-over total heading into the final round on Sunday. Starting the third and final round seven strokes behind Tariro November, who was on six-under, Chimhini produced one of the finest rounds of the tournament, signing for a closing six-under-par 67 to secure the title. Runners-up Chikanyambidze recorded rounds of 77, 67 and 72, while Amm posted scores of 72, 73 and 71. November, who had led going into the final day, slipped to fourth with rounds of 72, 68 and 78.

Following the conclusion of the Hillside Masters, the next event on the ZGA calendar is the Champion of Champions, scheduled for this coming weekend. After that, the Chapman Grandslam will take place on 5 and 6 July at Chapman Golf Club.
