SOUTH African golfers delivered commendable performances at the DP World Tour-sanctioned Volvo China Open, which concluded on Sunday at the Enhance Anting Golf Club in Shanghai, China.

Only four African players made the cut, all of whom were South Africans. Shaun Norris led the contingent, finishing tied for 15th on six-under-par 278.

Norris finished tied for position 15 while Jarvis was tied for 20th position on five-under-par-279 with Stone tied for position 36 on one-under-par-283. Williams, tied for position 43 finished the tournament on level-par-284. Norris opened with a one-over-par 72, followed by an even-par 71 in the second round. He then produced a superb bogey-free third round of five-under-par 66, highlighted by five birdies. This moved him to four-under heading into the final round, where he carded a two-under-par 69. Despite making six birdies, his round was marred by a double bogey on the par-three fifth hole and two additional bogeys. Jarvis began his campaign with an even-par 71 and followed it up with a four-under 67 in the second round, which included seven birdies and three bogeys. In the third round, he posted a two-under-par 69 with seven birdies and five bogeys. He closed with a one-over-par 72 on Sunday, tallying three birdies and two bogeys, to finish on five-under-par 279. Stone carded rounds of 70, 72, 72, and a closing 69 to end the tournament on one-under-par 283. Williams posted consistent rounds of level-par 71 on each of the four days to finish on even-par 284, tying for 43rd position.

China’s Ashun Wu delighted the home fans by clinching his second Volvo China Open title, courtesy of a final-round 65. Wu finished on 14-under-par 270, one stroke ahead of England’s Jordan Smith, who signed off with a 71 to finish on 13-under.
