A CLOSING four-under-par 68 was enough to see Daniel Cronje draw first blood in the Blu Label Bushveld Tour Race to Sunshine Tour Q-School, securing a five-stroke victory over Oliver Goldhill in the first event held at The Els Club Copperleaf in Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa, on Wednesday.

The South African professional finished on 12-under-par 204 to seal the win, while overnight leader going into the final round, Goldhill, closed on seven-under-par 209.

Cronje, who entered the final round three strokes behind Goldhill, carded eight birdies while dropping four shots on his way to clinching the tournament. He picked up a birdie on the first hole, followed by a bogey on the third and another birdie on the fourth. He then dropped another shot on the sixth before adding two more birdies on the eighth and ninth for an outward 34. On the inward nine, Cronje added back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th, dropped a shot on the 14th, and followed it with two further birdies on the 15th and 16th. He, however, closed with a bogey on the 18th for an inward 34. Having closed with a 68, Cronje had opened with a 69 and followed it with a bogey-free 67 in the second round. Second-placed Goldhill carded rounds of 71, 62, and 76. Travis Ladner and Tristan Leonard finished tied for third on five-under-par 211.
