ROUND one overnight leader Njoroge Kibugu and Celestin Nsanzuwera are now sharing the lead at the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the Sunshine Development Tour (SunDev) Absa Invitational Series – Karen Tour Final, taking place at Karen Country Club in Kenya.
Kibugu, who went into moving day with a solo lead, carded a two-under-par 68 on Tuesday, having opened with a 64. He made birdies at the second and sixth holes before bogeying the ninth to post an outward 34. After the turn, Kibugu dropped a shot at the 11th, but responded with birdies at the 12th, 14th and 18th. He had earlier bogeyed the 17th, signing off with an inward 34. Nsanzuwera, meanwhile, enjoyed a flawless front nine, picking up birdies at the fifth, eighth and ninth holes for an outward 32. He added further birdies at the 10th, 12th and 18th, while making bogeys at the 14th, 15th and 17th for an inward 35. Having opened the tournament with a 65, Nsanzuwera followed it up with a 67 on moving day to remain firmly in contention.
The event marks the final leg of the Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing.
