SOUTH African professional Thriston Lawrence has moved up to a share of fifth place after the second round of the Dubai Invitational which is being played at Dubai Creek Resort in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Lawrence carded a level-par 71 in the second round, climbing four places on the leaderboard after starting the day tied for ninth. He now sits on two-under-par 140.

The 29-year-old, a five-time winner on the DP World Tour, recorded two birdies and two bogeys during his round. He enjoyed a solid, blemish-free front nine, picking up birdies on the fourth and fifth holes to go out in 33. On the back nine, Lawrence dropped two shots, with bogeys on the 14th and 16th holes, returning in 38. With Lawrence moving into a share of fifth place, Dylan Frittelli also made progress, climbing to a tie for ninth after carding a level-par 71. Frittelli is now on one-under-par 141 after opening with a 70. Jayden Schaper slipped to a tie for 15th place on level-par 142 after posting a 73 in the second round. Jacques Kruyswijk and Shaun Norris are part of a five-way tie for 19th place on one-over-par 143, after rounds of 73 and 71 respectively. Ockie Strydom sits in 55th position on 11-over-par 153, while Dylan Naidoo is tied for 56th on 12-over-par 154.

At the top of the leaderboard, Shane Lowry and Nacho Elvira hold a two-stroke lead going into the weekend. They are on five-under-par 137.
