The South African started the tournament by carding a first round score of one-over-par-73, comprised of four birdies and five birdies before coming back with his best round at the tournament in the second round. Three bogeys and two birdies in the third round saw him card another one-over-par-73 which left him on two-under-par going into the fourth and final round. He signed for a closing a level-par-72 in the fourth round to tie for position 45 with Wenyi Ding, Taichi Kho, Kazuma Kobori, Niklas Lemke, and Joel Moscatel.
Marco Penge secured his maiden DP World Tour title after signing for a closing 67 to win the 2025 Hainan Classic by three shots. The Englishman started the day in a share of the lead with home favourite Bowen Xiao but found himself one shot behind a charging Sean Crocker as he began the back nine on Sunday. Three consecutive birdies on holes 12, 13 and 14 put Penge ahead on his 47th Tour start. Penge also booked his ticket to the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club after coming third on the Asian Swing standings.
