A FINAL round one-over-par 73 was enough to see Jordan Wessels secure a hard-fought one-stroke victory over amateur Andries van der Vyver at the Betway Big Easy Tour 1 held at Benoni Country Club on Friday.
Having opened with a level-par 72, followed by a brilliant eight-under-par 64 on moving day, Wessels went into the final round holding a four-shot lead over Van der Vyver. His closing 73 comprised three birdies, a triple bogey and a bogey. After making par saves in his first six holes on the front nine, Wessels made a bogey at the seventh hole, followed by a triple bogey at the eighth and a birdie at the ninth for an outward 39. After the turn, he added two birdies at the 10th and 12th holes for a flawless inward 34. Van der Vyver, coming off a brilliant performance at the 2026 FBC Zimbabwe Open, where he finished as the best-placed amateur, carded six-under-par 210 with rounds of 70 in all three rounds. Christian Kriek finished third on two-under-par 214.
For his win at the tournament, Wessels earned 210 Big Easy Tour Order of Merit points.
