FOLLOWING his two-stroke victory over Rattanon Wannasrichan and Wang, Wei-hsuan at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship held at Linkou International Golf and Country Club in Chinese Taipei, Kazuki Higa has overtaken Zimbabwean professional Scott Vincent at the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit (OoM).
The Japanese professional now has 1 551.91 points from eight tournaments while Vincent, who is Zimbabwe’s leading professional, has 1 274.30 points accumulated from nine events. Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz occupies third place with 1 026.67 points having participated in four tournaments. The top three are the only golfers who have, so far, managed to surpass the 1 000 points mark on this season’s OoM. Vincent’s recent appearance on the Asian Tour was The 41st Shinhan Donghae Open held at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, in Incheon, South Korea from September 11 to 14. It followed his victory at the International Series Morocco. He finished tied for second place with Canada’s Richard T Lee on 17-under-par 271, just a single shot behind Higa who carded 18-under-par 270 to win the championship.
In the International Series Rankings, Vincent is in second place with 196.04 points, behind Lucas Herbert with 202.95 points. South Africa’s Ian Snyman occupies 18th position on the Asian Tour OoM having collected 373 points from 11 tournaments.
