SOUTH African professional Leon Visser finally ended his trophy drought with a two-stroke victory at the King’s Cup held at Ezulwini Golf & Country Club in Eswatini on Saturday.

Visser carded an 11-under-par 205 to win his first trophy in eight years.

Going into the final round with a two-shot advantage over Thanda Mavundla, Visser closed with a one-under-par 71. He started his round with a bogey on the second hole before recovering with three consecutive birdies on the sixth, seventh and eighth holes. He dropped another shot on the ninth for an outward 35.

After the turn, he bogeyed the 11th, birdied the 12th, dropped another shot on the 13th and followed that with another birdie on the 16th for an inward 36.

Vaughn van Deventer, Jacques Van der Merwe and Brandon Pieters shared second place on nine-under-par 207.

Franklin Manchest, Ruben Van Der Berg, Ruan Groenwald and Zachary Chegwidden finished tied for fifth on eight-under-par 208. Ruben Jansen van Rensburg secured ninth place on seven-under-par 209, while Sean Howell and Jordan Wessels tied for 10th on six-under-par 210.
