The three players sponsored by the Union are Stalian Daka, Killian Hapwita and Denmark Mulambo, all of whom are set to fly the country’s flag at one of Africa’s flagship amateur championships.

In a statement, the ZGU said it had fully sponsored the team’s participation as part of its continued commitment to developing amateur golf and creating opportunities for Zambian players to compete at the highest level.

By exposing golfers to international competition, the Union said it aims to accelerate player development, build confidence and prepare athletes for future continental and global championships.

ZGU president Mohamed Bhagoo reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to investing in player development through increased international exposure.

“International competition is an essential component of athlete development. Competing against the best amateur golfers in the region provides invaluable experience that cannot be replicated at home. We remain committed to creating opportunities that enable our players to grow, improve their performance, and proudly represent Zambia on the international stage,” said Bhagoo in a statement.

The Zimbabwe Amateur Open presents an important platform for the Zambian trio to test their skills under championship conditions while strengthening relationships within the regional golfing community.

The experience is expected to contribute significantly to their technical, mental and competitive development as they continue their golfing journeys.

“As the Union continues to invest in elite amateur development, participation in international events remains a key pillar in its vision of producing golfers capable of competing successfully on the African continent and beyond,” read the statement.
